Our Social Media page, postcard, and website all show the journey and advertise our film, bringing awareness to present issues such as violence and crime as well as privacy and surveillance. The Websites development!

Image
Hey guys it's Sean. Today I am proud to say that our website is underway! This has taken up the past 48 hours of my life and I actually feel proud of it. I've never made a website but this class is all about learning new things. I've made a variety of tabs to show our film. We have our meet the cast showing everyone involved. We have the About section giving a synopsis of the film. The release info shows off our showing schedule along with where you can watch it. Our contact page is where we can be contacted for inquiries and questions. And our news & more page shows awards and film festivals we have been a part of. All that is left is the postcard! The Instagram page is posting and creating a presence. And our editing is in its final edits and title placement. Sean and Jackson could not have done a better job. This is one of the last AICE classes I'll be taking being my last year at this school. We are at the point where everything is coming up nicely. It happens...

Film en scene!

Image
Hey guys, it's sean. Today I am happy to report filming is over! Everything has been sent over to Sean now and editing is underway. I can feel the weight lifted off my back knowing this is done and our website and social media are underway. Expect a blog on those coming soon. The postage card will have to wait as the day we all have dreaded is in 2 days. My school is taking the SAT that day and I want to finish this all prior to that. But the note card can wait until after as it seems straightforward. The project is now in its final stages and we all are doing our part. Editing is on Sean. Jackson runs the Instagram page. But the website is my task. I have no experience in building one but Wix does simplify it. It allows you to use templates and AI to design the perfect site for businesses to blogs. I guarantee I will be working Friday till 11.59 but I'm okay with that. This class isn't supposed to be a walk in the park. It should show 2 years of work which is why p...

GO GO GO!

Image
Hey guys, it's Sean. Today I have some good news. Filming is a go for 10am Sunday. We had to go earlier for Rhys. Sean has a new job and works 4-10 Monday-Thursday.  Jackson has practice all day but Sunday. We are now all set to get this rolling. I feel much better and can now begin catching up on work. After this, we go into editing and the website. I would have loved to start but I could not even stand up without feeling sick. I don't want to get my hopes up as it has already changed so much that I can not be certain. I have hopes Sean and Jackson both make it and wake up. If we do not film this weekend I have no clue when else we could. I have an ACCUPLACER exam SAT and a culinary exam coming up. The next few weeks are very busy for everyone. But after Sunday a huge weight is taken off our backs. Besides this, we are as good as done. I'm ready to kiss the filming behind us as getting together always proves to be hard. Then we just have the essays to prep for...

What's next?

Image
Hey guys, it's Sean. On a good note today I am feeling much better and I will be filming. It is set for 1pm on Sunday which fits us all. I am still out of school until Monday but now I can start to get work done. At this point, it is our last chance to film. It may take 4 hours but it's now or never. Rhys is available and so is Jackson. He has a funeral on Saturday which is emotional but we must work the next day. Sadly I did give my mom the flu as well. She now cannot work and has the same pains I had so I must take care of her now. All I will work on now is the scene order so Sean can edit. This will give him right under 2 weeks which is more than enough to edit and see what needs a change. As someone who edited last year, I know the struggle of how long it takes. Editing is one of the biggest jobs in filmmaking. Splicing it all together perfectly is needed to make it quality. But now Jackson and I must do the media package. The website and advert are my job. While Jackson i...

More Interruptions

Image
Hey guys, it's Sean. So some small issues came to be today. Today is a late-night blog as I just got released from the hospital. So turns out I don't have the flu. The bad news is they do not know what I have. My fever hit 104 today which caused me to get sent in. Looks like school tomorrow is not happening. Jackson and Sean are in the dark about this I just got home and realized I need a blog and this is perfect to show our journey. As the looks of it filming Sunday is fleeing away. If I have the energy to tomorrow I will make needed calls. I want to help my group but my health may not let me. I want to ask them to move to film. But if they cannot I'll help make an order they film without me. Jackson's brother is a maybe. Or even anyone works but we need to find them fast. I know we have a due date but asking for an extension is a maybe as I cannot control my hospital visits. This is all up in the air. Yet I feel bad for my group as my health is dragging them down...

New changes

Image
Hey guys, it's Sean. Today I unfortunately have some sad news. I was just diagnosed with the flu. Beyond that Jackson has a funeral Saturday. My condolences go to him but now filming is an issue. It was all set in stone but in a brief 12 hours, it all came down. Now an idea is either Friday or Sunday. I hope the flu goes fast because I can't show up to film with it. Rhys is the most important as he is the main character. Sean is available but 3 of us just came crashing down at the finish line. The goal was to give 2 weeks to film but that isn't reality now. Maybe we can have Jackson's brother film but I would need to make a more in-depth script so he knows the shots and order. I won't be back at school until Thursday when I will talk to our teacher. Due dates are important but so are family emergencies. For now, all I can do is the media package. We are giving Jackson space for Instagram as he needs time. The project is due 17 days from today. This is now not ...

Scene reflection

Image
Hey guys, it's sean again. Last night laying in bed all I could think about was if our scenes could be better. I sat there for a good hour looking back at each scene and next time we meet I will run the ideas by the group. But one thing I would like to film as well is some transition shots to add along so while we edit it looks more fluid. Nothing is set yet but we have one more day to film to make changes. I overlooked the scenes indoors and I do not see a need to reshoot them but I must ask the group. My mom also comes back tomorrow so I may have more responsibilities than I had this weekend but while laying down I thought all that. As much as I missed out on going offroading with Sean. Or seeing Travis Scott in spring training in Palm Beach with Jackson. Reflection is needed to ensure quality. I want to pump this out and finish the media package but I am only one person. In other news, Rhys is available next Saturday so as long as that happens we have 2 weeks to ...

Filming the inside scenes

Image
Hey guys, it's sean. Today we kicked off filming at Jacksons' house. Due to sudden plans, we decided today to only film inside. Next time then we can focus on the car and park scenes. We will continue again on the following Saturday. Rhys was great without him filming would have been terrible. Now over 1/4 of all the scenes are done and we don't need to take over Jackson's house all day. Everything worked out with the costumes and props. Small change is Sean is the antagonist. Rhys is the main character. Jackson is the officer, and I am the filmer. Now in the next week, the focus is on the small media package. I will take you guys on the path of designing a website. Jackson is dealing with the Instagram over on his blogger. March 15th is a bit over 3 weeks away so we can just grind it out now and begin studying for essays. Originally we wanted to be done this weekend but Rhys is unavailable tomorrow. In the meantime, another group has asked me for help. Helping out a g...

Developments

Image
Hey guys it's Sean again. The script is almost done but a small issue is becoming the media package. So Jackson is in charge of social media. In turn, my job is the website. Yet none of us are big on graphic design so the postcard we are unsure of. Sean is up for the challenge but he is already editing and we do not want to fill his plate. And on filming we are crunching time at this point and may need to film next weekend too.  At the same time, I don't even know my work hours next week so we can't plan yet. But I placed a hold order on the costumes so that is all set. Most props are household like shoes and a car that we need. But in sad news, my rebel camera broke so now we will be filming on my iPhone 14 pro. By all means it is still a good camera nonetheless. Once my family is back in town we can discuss further filming plans. We all drive so transportation is not an issue but other plans are. Jackson plays baseball, I work, and Sean is a senior doin...

Production Ahead!

Image
Hey guys it's sean, this is the start of our official movie production. We are full steam ahead for now february 24th and 25th. This was delayed due to everyone having personal issues. Me myself, my moms father passed away in we all went to a funeral which was a major reason to halt the film date. Saturday morning while Jackson is at baseball practice I plan to get the needed costumes and props. I will film and our stars will be Jackson, Sean, and Sean's friend Rhys. Jackson will act as the cop and body in needed scenes. Sean will be the main antagonist. And Rhys will be our main character. I will be the director and filmmaker. Currently, I am finishing up the script to send over so lines will be all set for filming. Improv however will be present to really show how they fit into their roles. The time is on a crunch as Jackson is free at 2 but busy at 5 so we have 3 hours but can reshoot shots if needed at a later date. Worst case someone can't film and we find a su...

Some bright ideas

Image
Hey guys, we are back from break and planning continues. This film is unlike any work from last year and it is setting in. Jackson and sean are juniors who have a lot going on. while Sean D is a senior ready to get his diploma which is his last credit and ours too.  Unlike last year it is simpler as our location is right by Jackson's house, it's a forest park where we can film and use the natural setting. We plan to try and start production in mid-February and get ahead of it as junior year is busy but you never know. Our backup time is right after the school SAT as we would no longer worry about that. Jackson and Sean are the main actors along with one of his neighbors which is undecided yet who will act as the victim found in our thriller. Being in a natural environment people can be at risk so finding a safe section without wild animals is a must. Our props so far are minimal as we just need a car, outfits for the actors along with a phone to act as how they call 911. My Dsl...

Short film research: Amber, Thriller Genre

Image
The plot is essential in this film. A barber working in a highway barbershop is caught in a deadly situation when he realizes that his first customer of the day isn’t who he expected him to be. Every frame in the film has a moment. This made the film so much better. The acting was very exceptional. Along with this, the film had amazing direction. Some of the  moments in the film give you that active feeling of character, which is supported by smooth editing. The tension-building scene also helped to create a better experience while watching the film. The film was put together very well in all aspects. The camera angles made you feel as if you were almost living through the scenes. The scene in which he was drowning was especially enjoyable to watch. The scene showed an angle filmed from under the water which gave a very realistic sense. Overall there were so many small details that made the film great. Throughout the film, sound played a very large role. The extra tens...

Short film research: Other side of the box, Thriller Genre

Image
The opening scene of the short film Other Side of the Box starts with a stormy, gloomy night. A man with a scared look on his face is driving all around the city. In the rearview mirror, we catch views of a shadowy figure who looks to be following him. After pulling up to an empty warehouse, the man quickly enters and locks the door. The figure seems to have already found him despite his attempt to find a place to hide. When he hears footsteps he turns and sees the dark figure waiting in the doorway. With a smile on his face the figure approaches and stands above him as he fell and hot the ground while trying to run. He begs for his life yet the figure lungers forward pulling out a knife. A struggle broke out and he attempted to fight back. When it looks like all hope is lost a group with guns pulls up and storms the building. The man is saved and the figure is captured. It gets revealed that that man was hired to silence him from the major trial he was a witness to. The man was saved ...

Short film research: Jet, Thriller Genre

Image
The film is called "Jet". The film begins with an over-the-shoulder shot of a man in a car peering through the front windshield. In the distance, an automobile speeds up a slope. The camera pans to the side of the man's head, revealing that he intends to murder himself as he draws a handgun to his side. A little girl bounces down the street at that very moment, and the man puts the gun away in the van, pulls up, and kidnaps the daughter, making him think about what to do next. The scene then cuts to a man cautiously making his way across a woodland line, looking to see where the car had gone, and then sprinting through the trees toward the house. He stays in the bush, dashes across the front yard, and hides behind the vehicle just in time to see a man come over and take the girl out. After turning a corner, the man runs across two more men and kills them both. The man then discovers the girl seated on a stool, while the title card plays. The film excels at using noises, c...

Short film research: Hysteric, Thriller-Mystery Genre

Image
This video is all about a family; while the two daughters are shown in bed, their interest is piqued when they hear a mystery noise coming from their home. It turns out that their mother has gone insane, leaving these two daughters to struggle for their own safety and survival against their mother, who is out for blood. The most prevalent camera angle shown in this film was a medium angle camera shot, which mostly focuses on the upper half of one of the daughter's bodies as we watch her attempt to solve the sound's riddle. Tracking shots were also prevalent, as we followed the same daughter getting up and walking towards the commotion as she investigated; when she realized her mother has killed her father, the tracking camera shifted back to the daughter. These tracking shots give the impression that everything was shot in one long take as if the audience were there by the daughter. The ambiance was most important in this picture since we only heard the volume of rain pouring f...

Research: How to make a short film

Image
Today I watched a video about making short films. The video mentioned that when writing, I need to keep in mind what we can pull off. I shouldn't write in things that are not possible when thinking realistically. In other words, anything too expensive should be scraped from the film. The video also discussed the theme and that it should guide the story. Whatever I want out of the story should be kept in mind while writing. It also mentioned that with stories where we want the audience to be surprised, we should not use our first idea. This way the obvious idea will not be given and they will be genuinely surprised by things. It emphasizes that casting the right people is also very important. They need to be able to look the part they are playing. They need to fit the character as well. This will not be a problem for my group. My group will have a member of our group play the each of the main characters and I am confident our members will succeed. They also emphasize i...

Comparing Le Jetee, the short, and 12 Monkeys, the full-length movie

Image
The science fiction film Le Jetée, which examines the idea of time travel and the role that memory plays in shaping our perception of reality, is influential and highly regarded. The film recounts the tale of a sent back in man time to forestall a future debacle. Who utilizes a progression of still photos to portray the occasions of the story. The film's use of still images creates a dreamlike atmosphere and a sense of uncertainty as the story progresses. One of the significant topics of Le Jetée is the connection among time and memory. The film proposes that our recollections are not only a record of the past. Yet additionally an approach to molding how we might interpret the present and what's to come. As the hero turns back the clock, he is compelled to defy the recollections of his own past and the manners by which they have molded how he might interpret the world. The film likewise investigates the possibility that the demonstration of recollecting itself can be a type of...
