Coca Cola CCR

1.      1.  H ow does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? Our commercial has the same key elements and iconic parts of a coke commercial people remember. It has beach elements, music, and even the pop sound from opening the can. It is not a mimic of a commercial but a fusion of the ideas we liked the most. Our commercial does not specifically represent any social groups or issues 2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?  It engages with the audience by showing a good time at the beach with coke being at the center. It influences people who go to the beach who would want coke to go with it. And represents that coke is a good product to bring to the beach.  Our product would be a Television commercial that airs on a cycle to get mass exposure. Youtube as well is a viable option to get to a mass amount of people.       3.     3.  How did your production skills dev

The Last stretch

Hey guys it's sean for the final production blog for the Coca-cola Commercial.  This has been super stressful but we are in the home stretch. I filmed, Jack and Randy acted, I supplied the props, and Brianna edited. Now it is out of my hands and up to her to edit. All scenes have been filmed and the editing is underway. Brianna was the main editor and made last-minute changes in the background music to not just be normal beach sounds. But to find out the replacement you are just going to have to watch our video. I am very thankful for Brianna as originally I was supposed to edit but since she went to a debate tournament and missed filing day she took the job. I had my hands full with a Chemistry class I'm struggling in and her taking it allowed me to focus on bringing my grade up. We were given an extension on the work due to the circumstances at our school yet we want to finish before the original deadline. I am a stressful person and when it is finally done then I will take

Beach day filming

Hey guys its sean again, this weekend my group and I filmied and filming was my job. Saturday was the first day of production and I would be lying if I said it didn't start out rough. We knew we were on a time crunch because Randy one of our actors had to leave. The first shot went perfectly being just a walk up setting. Yet on the second we had a small argument, they disagreed with a canted shot and would have rather done a pan but I directed it and we had to stick with it. Next for the music video, we will have to all think before time. But the third shot took some practice as we needed a volley to happen. None of us played volleyball so it was a struggle and randy had limited time. Eventually we got it done but still had half to go. Due to time, we had to skip the POV shot as randy had limited time. The final 2 shots were randy stumbling upon the coke and drinking it at sunset which was perfect at the time. It was my favorite shot but the sun was about to set and it would b

Production complications

Hey guys, it's sean again and our commercial production has not been the smoothest. This week was rough for Everyone. This past week our school had a suicide which has been affecting everyone. We were taken by shock and it just left people speechless. Our filming date to October 8th at 6pm at the beach. I am set to film and since Brianna has a debate tournament she will be the editor as Randy and Jack our actors. Sadly since we live in Florida weather always changes. If it is too windy and it is raining filming will be pushed to a later date. We are high school students and only 2 of us can drive which makes meeting a struggle during the week. Next Friday is the due date so we have to go all in and try to finish. I will be supplying the props of the Coke, cooler, Ice, and volleyball. Randy has a job that made us decide on no costumes as he gets out and is working right next to where we are set to film. I decided that scene 5 will now be a bird's eye view shot with him grabbing

Storyboard for my Coke Commercial

Image
First scene- During this scene, we will be filming our arrival at the beach walking out with our supplies. The shot will be a wide shot showing the volleyball court and Jack and Randy carrying a cooler of drinks and a volleyball approaching it. We want a shot to set the scene involving the props and actors. Second scene-  In this scene, Jack serves the ball to randy starting the game. The shot will be a Dutch shot angling from where jack is in the frame and serves to give people a perspective. This initiates the game at an angle like the ball is served. When we think of coke what comes to mind is a refreshing soda. Third scene- The third scene will be Randy hitting it back to Jack and it returns jack hits it out of bounds. This shot will be a zoomed-out two-shot showing the full court and both actors. This captures the game and the main game part of the commercial. Fourth scene- The fourth scene will be the ball rolling into the cooler of cokes and Randy going to get it. This shot wil

Planning for my Coke commercial

PLANNING BLOG   Hi everyone! I'm Sean and I'm going to tell you about what we're planning for our commercial.  Props: Since we've agreed to do a Coca Cola commercial our main prop is going to be a Coca Cola can. Since we're shooting a beach we'll be using: Volley Ball Cooler Car Coca Cola Cans Beach towel Ice bag Costumes: In our commercial, we'll have 2 main subjects, Randy and Jack. Our actors will wear beach attire. They wear swimming trunks or regular shorts. A regular tee shirt or tank top. Preferably with light and vibrant colors. They could wet their hair in the ocean to fit the beach day look. However, if they're hair covers their face we could have our actors wear a headband. Last resort would be to have them tie their hair into a ponytail. For shoes they could either stay barefoot or wear sandals. Schedule: On 9/30/22, our group research conventions blog was completed for the commercial. On 10/4/22, our group completed the planning blog to es

Research blog: Commercial Conventions

To research the Coca-Cola commercials we began by doing the most logical thing; watching previous commercials. So we searched up the videos we could find of the more recent Coke commercials. In doing so we could see the commonalities and ideas we want to recreate.  1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOMhOjgNd7Q "Open that Coca-Cola" This first commercial is filled with lots of vibrant colors, music, and creative dance numbers. The part that caught our eye was the scene where the female subject does the wave with her eyebrows. The camera then goes under the table to her feet and she begins dancing. Overall it was light-hearted and fun which I admire.  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VR9Iemy8SM "Turn up the Rhythm" Within the first scenes the camera shows a wide angle of a Coca-Cola factory. The scenes show the making of Coca-Cola bottles being made. It then changes into two female subjects drinking the Coca-Cola with the pop sound and slight sigh of enjoyment.
